I create large scale woodblock prints to examine the psyche of those who watch horror movies and the tactics of the movie makers. The subjects of my works are high contrast and pull imagery from horror film to discuss larger ideas about the genre. I use the drama and light that these movies are known for to examine questions about the good verses evil nature of watching horror, what cultural trends that what is considered scary, and how directors use tools like camera angles and pacing to amplify fears. I have used the image of clenched hands from Night of the Hunter(1955) to discuss the struggle of good and evil that might exist in the viewer of Horror films.
